I don't store water in this manner, but thought the information might be valuable to others. The system appears to work at first glance.

If that's what you want to do you can easily assemble the fittings with which to do it.
Bung plugs have a center part that incorporates a 3/4" NPTF port and a knock out.
Remove the knock out and thread a 3/4" street elbow into the bung plug.
Into the female port of the street elbow thread a 3/4" NPTM to Garden Hose Male adapter.
Voila, you're in business.
