tent poles

Postby Pop » 26 Jan 2017 15:18

About 2 weeks ago purchased one of the last stock of a fairly good tent from a national supplier who had them (4) in a warehouse for who knows how long. Glue of the box was no longer there. The nylon was good as well as the floor. The fiberglass poles were of my concern, for the coating on them was starting to chip a little, got a few fiberglass splinters in the hands as well. Figure it had been in that old building for a pretty long time; last time they had those tents on the market was over ten years ago. Anyway, nothing ventured nothing gained thing..... ordered some 1/2 inch heat shrink tubing and applied; metal joints no longer loose, no more splinters, no crackle when bent.... Then at the same time put in new shock cord. I am pleased, if the tent holds out but one season will have more than my monies worth. Just thought I would pass that on in case somebody is starting to have the same trouble.

Great idea, definitely cheaper than gel coat.

Thanks for the tip! ;)
I don't watch survival "reality" TV to be educated. I watch it to be entertained. There's a BIG difference.
